My Experience with Away’s Travel Gear

Travel startup Away has become one of my favorite places to search for luggage, minimalist backpacks and other packing gear. The New York-based “Warby Parker of Travel” pays close attention to customer feedback, iterating on their designs over the years to perfect their suitcases and travel gear.

Though Away has spawned dozens of competitors and imitators, I adore my Away Expandable Bigger Carry On, which was one of the company’s first turns into soft-sided luggage. 

I also had an excellent experience with the Away Pet Carrier, which I bought to transport my furry little friend as a puppy.

While the company was a digital native brand, it has expanded into brick-and-mortar stores where customers can get a feel for their luggage in person, including opening a new storefront in Washington, DC’s Georgetown neighborhood.

The only trouble is that Away’s travel gear isn’t exactly cheap. Which is why their sales, when the do come, are worth paying attention to.

Last Call for Away’s Winter Sale: Save Up to 45%

Away launched a Winter 2024 sale that includes *some* spectacular deals of up to 45% off. This particular sale ends on January 31, 2024 at 11:59PM.

Admittedly, this is not Away’s best sale of the year. (That, historically, has come around Black Friday — see more details below.)

1. Away’s Original Large wheeled suitcase is 20% off, part of their “Archive sale”;
2. The roomy and colorful 70 Liter “For All Routes” (FAR) Duffle is 45% off;
3. The Everywhere Zip Backpack is marked down from $195 to $156;

Does Away Travel Offer Sales?

Away does not offer frequent sales, so when they do, they’re worth considering:

• Historically, one of Away’s best sales is around Black Friday. During Away’s 2023 Black Friday sale, the travel company offered 20% off its luggage.
• During Away’s Labor Day Sale, you could find discounts of up to 35% off their Original luggage and travel gear.
