It’s funny how life works sometimes.
Before Thursday, I had never even heard of Quavaro Artisans, the Washington, DC-based startup from husband-and-wife team of Cesar and Pial Vega.
I stumbled across Quavaro’s shop in Eastern Market at lunch that day, and had a chance to speak with Pial about their journey.
A couple of hours later, at a sneak peak of the new Carnegie Library, I came across Quavaro again, at the well-curated #madeindc shop hosted by the DC History Center.
While the first floor of DC’s Carnegie Library now occupies an Apple store built around its town square concept, the second floor houses a fantastic exhibition space courtesy of the DC History Center.
The History Center’s shop sells goods made in DC and tells the stories behind the entrepreneurs and artisans — including Pial and Cesar — who make them.
