Amazon might be a behemoth, but the internet megastore is an easy place to discover direct-to-consumer menswear startups. Below are options for amazing men’s neckties, socks and other accessories from innovative brands that are available via Amazon.
Also note that Amazon has a growing stable of private label brands for Amazon Prime members. Check out our guide to Amazon menswear brands like Goodthreads and Buttoned Down and our list of the differences between Amazon Prime brands for women like Lark and Ro and Amazon Essentials.
Elizabetta
Founded in 2004 by Elizabeth Perkins, Elizabetta Boutique sources fashion for men and women from Italy. Their team, which also includes Cindy Sullivan and Rosario Longobardi, sells an impressive selection of Garza fina grenadine silk ties made in Lake Como by some of the oldest mills in Italy via Amazon.
Happy Socks
Founded back in 2008 by Swedish entrepreneurs Mikael Söderlindh and Viktor Tell, Happy Socks makes colorful, comfortable and affordable socks. These days, the brand is seemingly everywhere. Their socks are available at major department stores, discount chains like Century 21, on the company’s own website and at Amazon, which carries a large selection of Happy Socks.
TheTieBar
You can’t open a men’s magazine these days without seeing a plug for a tie clip, tie, or socks from TheTieBar.com. Kudos to their marketing team. There is a good reason these ties fly off the shelves. The company issues simple, affordable riffs of ties and socks that often look like more expensive counterparts. Just make sure you realize what you’re getting here: You can’t get a real grenadine tie for twenty bucks, but The Tie Bar’s Grenafaux version comes sort of close. Check out TheTieBar.com at Amazon. Also glimpse inside their guideshop in Washington, DC’s Logan Circle neighborhood.
Unsimply Stitched
We adore California startup Unsimply Stitched’s socks. Alex Hendeles founded the brand in 2011 and continues to release gorgeous new collections each year. Check out the great selection of Unsimply Stitched socks at Amazon.com.
Galleria Brands (dba Luther Pike Seattle and John Williams Clothing)
Menswear company Galleria Brands makes funky and whimsical — and affordable — neckties, socks, braces (aka suspenders), shirtstays and accessories for men and boys under the brands Luther Pike Seattle and John Williams Clothing. (Think “ugly Christmas tie” and colorful sailboat socks.) Check out Galleria Brands at Amazon.com.
Proper Materials
Proper Materials, a fast-fashion brand offered by BC Wear at Amazon.com, supplies men’s neckties, keychains and other accessories. We especially like the look of Proper Materials’ skinny chambray tie.
Tie Your Socks
Tie Your Socks makes supremely comfortable socks (via Amazon). Their designs are bright, flashy and quirky but push the envelope without jumping the shark. (They also make ties, though those same flashy designs are harder to swallow draped around your neck.) The company also donates one pair of socks for every purchase to a community organization that train and cloth people in need.
Pocket squares from Puentes Denver
Entrepreneur Ricardo Puentes established Puentes Denver in 2011 in, you guessed it. The brand offers pretty snazzy pocket squares on Amazon, as well as a selection of men’s ties and accessories. Its pitch? “A deft hand for quality and a discerning eye for timeless style.” See for yourself at Amazon.com.
Sock Fancy
Launched in 2013 in Atlanta by longtime friends Futhum and Stefan, Sock Fancy sells monthly subscriptions for brightly colored socks via Amazon made of a combed cotton blend.
