On the strip in Las Vegas, you can’t turn around without bumping into both beachwear and high-end luxury fashion from the likes of Prada and Gucci, but trying to find a thoughtful collection of menswear and accessories is another story. Stitched Lifestyle, in the swanky Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is an impressive effort to bridge that gap.
Sure you can drop some serious money — on shirts by Eton, Di Bianco shoes, and the store’s own XXXX by Stitched collection of suits made of Zegna fabrics — but Stitched also features a range of shirts, pants, blazers, shoes and accessories at a variety of price points. Nothing is inexpensive, but everything is interesting, and few items stuck out as outrageously priced.
Given that the store sits in the newest, ritziest hotel in Las Vegas — and that’s saying something — Stitched feels remarkably down-to-earth.
On offer are gorgeous briefcases from the impressive Will Leather Goods, socks from Hook + Albert and JM Dickens, shirts from Zachary Prell and Lipson Shirtmakers, blazers from Circle of Gentlemen, and ties from John G. Hardy of London and Stitched’s own private label.
During a visit over the summer to the Cosmopolitan, I spent some time browsing through the store and talking to the friendly staff. Following my visit, Sam Glaser, Senior Buyer for Stitched, and General Manager Ricci Lopez, provided some background on Stitched’s operations and point of view.
Glaser told me that Stitched serves “two distinct male demographics: irreverent gentlemen and young sophisticates.” He notes the former are driving sales of the higher-end, somewhat dressier offerings, the XXXX by Stitched collection of suits and sport coats, Chadburry shirts, sateen pants by AG, denim from Hudson, shoes from Allen Edmonds and Di Bianco.
“Young sophisticates,” meanwhile, are buying suiting and sport coats from John Varvatos, outerwear from J. Lindeberg, sport shirts from Bogosse, Zachary Prell, and Jared Lang. “We also do great with our ‘Got Stitched’ tees,” says Glaser, as well as shirts from Jacks & Jokers, Hudson jeans, casual footwear by Creative Recreation (“who has been a great partner since day one”) and Swims’ amphibious loafers.
As far as accessories, they note that the chunky sport watches from Brera and British-inspired men’s watches from Daniel Wellington as well as classic aviators from Randolph Engineering, of Mad Men fame, are also popular. “We’re also adding pop with lapel flowers and pocket squares from the likes of Hook + Albert and Edward Armah,” said Glaser.
Glaser said his favorite brands that aren’t in the store are “influencers that don’t fit our story and have plenty of local and national market saturation,” putting Alexander McQueen, Saint Laurent Paris, Thom Browne, Paul Smith, and Tom Ford in that category.
The two note that current trends include lightweight sport coats, tassel loafers, tan and burgundy dress shoes, lapel flowers, pocket circles, and dress shirts with unique detailing and contrast plackets and cuffs.
Keep in mind that there is a lot going on away from the casinos as well. The next time you’re in Las Vegas, veer off the strip to get to know the Downtown Project, Stitch Factory and Combat Gent, but also take some time to visit Stitched: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas 3708 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109, (702) 698-7630, www.stitchedlifestyle.com.
